How to make a colorful background in photoshop
1. Go to File menu and click on New option or simply press "CTRL + N" in keyboard. A window will be opened. Then adjust measurements as shown below.
WIDTH-1280, HEIGHT-720, RESOLUTION-72 pixel/inch and Back ground color-white and press ok.
2. Then set Foreground color as Black and Background color as White.
3. Now select Gradient tool from Tools Panel or simply press "G" in keyboard and make sure that you have selected "Foreground to background gradient type as shown in the image.
4. Then move cursor to the middle bottom of the document. Then hold down "SHIFT" and press mouse left button and drag form bottom to top as shown in the image.
5. Then the background looks like in the following image.
6. Now go to "FILTER" menu and then to "DISTORT" and click on "WAVE" option. Then a window will be opened. In that window adjust "Number of generators to 10" and "Type to Square" and leave other options unchanged and press ok.
7. Now our Background looks like the following image.
8. Now go to "Layer Palette" and unlock background layer. To do this double click on that layer. After unlocking the layer, again double click on that layer for displaying "Layer Styles" window. In that window select "Gradient Overlay" style. Now click on the Gradient to select various Gradient types as shown in the image.
9. After clicking on the Gradient, a "Gradient editor window" will be opened. Then click on right faced Triangle. Then a list will be opened. From that list click on "SPECTRUM" gradients set. From that set, select first gradient and press ok.
10. Then change Blend mode to "Linear burn", opacity to 80% and Angle to zero and press ok.
11. Then our Background looks like the following image.
12. Then press "CTRL + SHIFT + N". Then a New layer window will be opened. Then press ok. This adds a New layer. Now select Gradient tool form Tools panel and drag from bottom to top in the document as we did above. Now change Blend mode in Layer palette to "Soft light".
